VISITOR FAQ

Each message series is carefully designed with people just like you in mind: real people looking for real answers to issues they face everyday. At Park, we’re teaching God’s timeless truths from the Bible that speak to where you’re living today in your friends, family, career, and relationship with Jesus. If it’s real life and important for today, you can be sure at Park we’re talking about it.

We believe it’s what’s inside a person that matters, not the outside. At Park, we feel people should be able to come as they are and not feel judged. If you dress up or dress down, either way, you’ll find yourself fitting right in with people who genuinely care about you.

Street parking is available around the church building. Click here for directions via public transportation.

Yes! Kids at Park is our ministry for children from birth to 5th grade. Loop Kids teaches the Bible in a fun and engaging way and meets during each worship gathering. The SHIFT Junior High Ministry (6th to 8th grade) meets every Sunday in the Fellowship Hall classroom during the 11 AM service, and on Wednesdays from 7-8:30PM. High School Students@Park (9th to 12th grade) meet every Sunday from 6-7:30 PM.

NEXT STEPS

Wherever you are in your journey, we want to encourage and equip you to take a next step.

Small Groups

SMALL GROUPS
Living as a disciple of Jesus is about much more than attending Sunday worship gatherings. We are created for meaningful, grace-saturated community that goes beyond Sundays to affect our whole lives. At Park, the context in which we pursue that kind of life-transforming discipleship is in small groups.

Small groups are gatherings of men, women and families at all stages of life, typically meeting in homes throughout the week to study, grow in friendship, and invest in each other’s lives. Our small groups meet in neighborhoods across the Northwest Side of Chicago.

+ Join a Small Group

Every week small groups meet in homes across our neighborhood, including groups for men, women, married couples, and moms. To take the first step in joining a small group, email Joel Settecase at jsettecase@parkcommunitychurch.org.

+ Lead a Small Group

A small group leader disciples and shepherds people in their group to know God and to make Him known. We seek leaders who are mature in their faith, demonstrate integrity compassion and show faithfulness, availability, and teachability. If you are interested in leading a small group your first step is to attend small group leader training. Check the events section to see upcoming dates and times.

Baptism

BAPTISM
Baptism is our outward expression of our inward faith. It is a way of publicly declaring that you are a follower of Christ. If you’ve never been baptized as a believer, come learn more about what Jesus says on this topic. Our next class is happening on October 29th. Register here.

Serve

SERVE
As followers of Christ we are called to serve, and when we serve – we grow! We want to invited you to use your gifts and join one of our growing teams that help create an environment where people can connect with others, hear the Word of God, and worship Jesus. There are many roles open to serve at Park, and we would love to help you use your talents and experiences to lead, care for, and mobilize the church of God. Begin by emailing Joel Settecase at jsettecase@parkcommunitychurch.org and our team will be in touch soon!

Give

GIVE
Giving is an act of worship. It recognizes God as the owner and source of all we have. It is our cheerful response to God in praise of His radical generosity towards us.

Partnership

PARTNERSHIP
“I thank God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus .” – Philippians 1:3-6

Our mission is simple: We live to know God and to make Him known, and we get to do that together as one body. Partnership at Park is more than just attending meetings and gatherings. Partnership (what some churches call membership) is for those who desire to commit to a spiritual family and the vision here at Park.

We believe God desires to accomplish great things through Park Community Church. Lives change when they come in contact with the grace of Jesus, and life change is happening all around us at Park. We invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us in this work of God, and we are confident that He will complete the work He has begun in, among, and through each of us.

If you are ready to call Park Community Church your church home, we would love to invite you to attend an upcoming Partnership Class to learn more about our mission, vision, and how you can join our church family and partner with us in the Gospel. For upcoming dates and times, please email Joel Settecase at jsettecase@parkcommunitychurch.org.

MINISTRIES

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ transforms our lives when we love and serve one another in biblical community. Below are some ways to get connected with ministries at Park.

Alpha

ALPHA
Got questions about life? We believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and their their point of view.

+ What is ALPHA?
Alpha gives everyone the opportunity to explore life’s big questions in a safe and friendly setting. Guests gather around a table once a week for 11 sessions (and a 20-hour getaway), to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus, and much more.

Each session begins with a dinner, followed by a short talk that looks at a different aspect of the Christian faith. This is followed by a time of discussion in small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion and ask questions. Questions might include, Does God exist? What about injustices? What is my purpose? No question is too simple or too objectionable.

+ How much does ALPHA cost?
There is no charge for attending the Alpha course. We do ask for a $5 donation to cover the cost of the meal, if you are able.

+ What is discussed?
Over the 10 weeks of the Alpha, participants explore the following topics:

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • How can I have faith?
  • How and why should I pray?
  • How and why should I read the Bible?
  • How does God guide us?
  • Who is the Holy Spirit?
  • What does the Holy Spirit do?
  • How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
  • How can I resist evil?
  • Why and how should I tell others?
  • Does God heal today?
  • What about the church?
  • Does God heal today?
  • Why and how should I tell others?

The next Alpha course launches Sep. 19. Register here.

If you’ve been at Park on any given weekend, you’ll hear us share that our mission is to Know God and Make Him Known. We believe that life is a gift that comes from the awesome and mighty God we serve. And so child dedication is about as parents, knowing God and making Him known to our children, and as a church family, partnering with parents and supporting families. The next Child Dedication Orientation will happen in Fall 2017. Check back at the end of summer for details. Questions? Email Julie Shaffer at jshaffer@parkcommunitychurch.org.

Men’s, Women’s, and Topical Studies

Men's, Women's, and Topical Studies
Throughout the year we host special-interest studies through Scripture and important topics, in order to “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). These include Men’s Challenges, Women’s Bible Studies, and more. The best way to discover which studies will be offered is to pick up an “At Park,” our monthly bulletin, during a Sunday worship gathering.
