Park Community Church – Near North is located in the heart of Chicago’s Near North neighborhood. Join us at one of our four weekly gatherings as we seek to know God and make Him known.

Each message series is carefully designed with people just like you in mind: real people looking for real answers to issues they face everyday. At Park, we’re teaching God’s timeless truths from the Bible that speak to where you’re living today in your friends, family, career, and relationship with Jesus. If it’s real life and important for today, you can be sure at Park we’re talking about it.

We believe it’s what’s inside a person that matters, not the outside. At Park, we feel people should be able to come as they are, and not feel judged. If you dress up or dress down, either way, you’ll find yourself fitting right in with people who genuinely care about you.

Yes! There is an attached parking garage available for families, elderly, and handicapped on the street level of our building (enter on Crosby). Additional free parking is available in the parking lot on the north side of our building, and there is ample street parking around the neighborhood. Validated parking is available in the parking deck at 950 N. Kingsbury. Click here for directions via public transportation.

Loop Kids is our ministry for children from birth to 5th grade. Loop Kids teaches the Bible in a fun and engaging way and meets during all gatherings except Sunday 5:30 PM.

Small Groups

SMALL GROUPS

At Park our mission is to know God and make Him known! Our small groups are designed to equip people to know God by studying the bible, praying together and building community. We make God known as we share and reflect Christ in our workplace, homes and neighborhoods, and as we serve in the church and in our communities throughout the city. Small groups are often the source of strong friendships and a place where life transformation can take place.

+ Join a Small Group

Park Community Church has small groups for men, women, mixed (married & single), married couples and moms that meet throughout the week. Join one of the great groups below!

We have new small groups forming in January.  Sign up and we will let you know about new small groups forming in January 2018!

+ Lead a Small Group
A small group leader disciples and shepherds people in their group to know God and to make Him known. We seek leaders who are mature in their faith, demonstrate integrity compassion and show faithfulness, availability, and teachability. If you are interested in leading a small group your first step is to attend small group leader training.

Baptism

BAPTISM

Baptism is our outward expression of our inward faith. It is a way of publicly declaring that you are a follower of Christ. If you’ve never been baptized as a believer, come to our next baptism class to learn more about what Jesus says on this topic.

Serve

SERVE WITH US ON A WEEKEND

As followers of Christ we are called to serve, and when we serve – we grow! We want to invite you to use your gifts and join one of our growing teams that help create an environment where people can connect with others, hear the Word of God, and worship Jesus. There are many roles open to serve at Near North, and we would love to help you use your talents and experiences to lead, care for, and mobilize the church of God.

Give

GIVE

Giving is an act of worship. It recognizes God as the owner and source of all we have. It is our cheerful response to God in praise of His radical generosity towards us.

Partnership

PARTNERSHIP

“I thank God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus .” – Philippians 1:3-6

Our mission is simple: We exist to know God and to make Him known, and we get to do that together as one body. Partnership (what some churches call Membership) is more than just attending meetings and gatherings.  Every follower of Jesus is to be part of a local church, and Partnership is your next step to commit to our spiritual family and vision here at Park.

We believe God desires to accomplish great things through Park Community Church. Lives change when they come in contact with the grace of Jesus, and life change is happening all around us at Park. We invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us in this work of God, and we are confident that He will complete the work He has begun in, among, and through each of us.

If you are ready to call Park Community Church your church home, we would love to invite you to attend an upcoming Partnership Class to learn more about our mission, vision, and how you can join our church family and partner with us in the Gospel.

Alpha

ALPHA

Don't believe in God? Given up on church? Just Curious? Alpha gives everyone the opportunity to ask the tough questions about life and God, in a safe setting. Alpha has ten sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith. Each week is centered around dinner, a short talk, and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts and ask questions. No question is too basic or too big. Try ALPHA without committing to the course by signing up for the next Launch Party, if it looks interesting to you, keep coming.

+ Who is ALPHA for?

Alpha is for anyone. People attend from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints. Participants come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, and the claims of Jesus. Some people are curious to understand what the Christian faith believes. Others come to learn more about the God who really changes lives. Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith or simply aren't able to articulate why they believe what they believe. Everyone is welcome.

+ How much does ALPHA cost?

There is no charge for attending the Alpha course. A weekly donation of $5 for dinner is requested to help cover the cost for the meal.

+ What is discussed?

Over the 10 weeks of the Alpha, participants explore the following topics:
• Who is Jesus?
• Why did Jesus die?
• How can we have faith?
• Why and how do I pray?
• Why and how should I read the Bible?
• How does God guide us?
• Who is the Holy Spirit?
• How can I resist evil?
• Why and how should I tell others?
• Does God heal today?
• What’s the purpose of church?

The next Alpha course launches January 23.

Care

CARE

Throughout life we all face challenging circumstances such as financial burdens, physical ailments, emotional/mental struggles, and relational strife. How we respond during these times is important to God. If you are struggling, the Care Ministry at Park has people you can turn to during your time of need:

+ Deacons

Deacons provide confidential prayer, compassionate care, and resourceful connection for the emotional, spiritual, and financial needs of those at Park. No need is too small or too big. Email deacons@parkcommunitychurch.org or call 312-361-0533 anytime. You can also meet with a deacon after one of Park’s gatherings.

+ Care Shepherds

Care Shepherds offer one-on-one support for those who are going through difficult times. Deacons can help connect you to a Care Shepherd. Care Groups, workshops, and seminars can also address your needs and help you move forward.

+ Short-term Counseling & Referrals

Do you feel the need to seek counseling for an issue you are dealing with? We are here to help you. Park has two people on Staff who you can see for short-term counseling. You can email Steve Hoppe, Counseling Pastor, or Heather Goodall, Care Ministries Director.

Children

LOOP KIDS

Welcome to Loop Kids, Park’s ministry to children from birth through 5th grade. At Loop Kids, we have one mission: to see every child come to know God and make Him known. When your child comes to Loop Kids, it is our hope that they have fun, are engaged with age-appropriate and Christ-centered curriculum and worship, and leave feeling known and loved. And as a parent, you can rest easy knowing that your child is safe because we take safety seriously at Loop Kids. Every volunteer that interacts with your child has been interviewed and screened, including personal reference checks, a criminal background check and safety training. We are excited to serve your family and hope that you will join us at our Saturday or Sunday morning services. Visit our website for information about our ministry.

+ Child Dedication

Parenthood is a unique calling from God, and parents have more influence over a child’s spiritual development than anyone else. We believe that your commitment to helping your child follow Jesus is something to celebrate and announce to your church family.

Our mission is to know God and make Him known, and we believe that life is a gift that comes from the awesome God we serve. Child dedication is about you as a parent knowing God and making Him know to your children. It is also an opportunity for our church family to declare our partnership with you and support for your family in your journey to raise a child who loves and follows Jesus one day.

Find answers to FAQs about child dedication at Park.

Marriage

MARRIAGE

Marriage Ministry at Park focuses on three things:

• Helping couples who are seriously dating and considering engagement.
• Helping couples who are engaged and preparing for marriage.
• Helping couples who are married to be strengthened in their relationships.

+ Should We Tie the Knot?

Should We Tie the Knot? is our one-day pre-engagement seminar for seriously dating couples considering marriage. It is offered three times a year, typically in the fall, winter, and spring. You will learn biblical principles that you can apply to serious Christian dating and address critical questions that couples must work through before deciding to get engaged. This seminar includes discussion time with your significant other and gender-specific Q&A sessions to help you discern the answer to the question “Is this the one?”

+ Marriage Prep

Wedding ceremonies are wonderful celebrations and it is important to plan for them. But it is far more important to prepare for a lifetime of marriage. The six-week Marriage Prep course is designed to help couples get off to a great start in marriage with a Christ-centered foundation. The course meets Sunday afternoons at the Near North location. It is designed to help engaged couples prepare for marriage before their big day and is offered three times a year: each fall, winter, and spring.

+ Fall Marriage Conference

The Fall Marriage Conference is held each year for married, engaged, and seriously dating couples. It typically falls in late September/early October each year. We invite an outside speaker and host the event here at our Near North location. The conference is open to the general public. It is a two-day (Friday night, Saturday morning) event, and childcare is provided in hopes that many couples have the option to attend.

+ Winter Marriage Retreat

The Winter Marriage Retreat, held on the first weekend of March at an off-site resort in Lake Geneva, is for married couples in the Park community. It is a great time of focused marriage enrichment away from distraction and serves as a time for couples to connect with other couples in our community.

By studying Joshua, we will learn to know God, to believe God, and to trust that God will fulfill his promises. We are committed to investing in your spiritual growth and equipping you as we grow as women of the Word. Invite a friend, experience solid biblical teaching, and build community. This study will take place at Park Near North and Park Edgebrook. No childcare provided. Cost is $25. Please register here by Jan. 10.
